What is Printed Light?
Printed Light is a lightweight, thin, flat and flexible light source that is created using the latest developments in nanotechnology.
Printed Light panels rely on phosphorescent material that, when exposed to a small amount of electrical current, provides light. They are cool to the touch, require very little power, and emit a soft, naturally diffused light.
What is Nanotechnology?
Nanotechnology is a manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular scale.
“Nanotechnology is the application of extremely small things and can be used across all
the other science fields, such as chemistry, biology, physics, materials science, and en-
Who manufactures Printed Light?
Printed Light is developed and manufactured in the United States by Triton Solar
Is it safe for the environment?
Yes. Printed Light is manufactured with environmentally friendly materials. There are no
volatile organic compounds (VOC’s).
How much power does it require to operate?
It only requires 0.0625 Watts per square foot to operate. (e.g. a 24” X 48” panel only re-
quires 0.5 Watts)
How bright is it?
Printed Light panels measure between 500 and 700 LUX using a standard light meter
held within an inch of the panel. Because of the highly diffused nature of Printed Light, it does not cast light similar to LED or Florescent bulbs. This is its advantage in that there is no need for additional dif-
fusing structures; which adds cost and requires maintenance and space.
How warm does the panel get?
There is virtually no heat generated even after hours of continuous use.
How long does it last?
We expect Printed Light panels to last up to ten years when kept on continuously. Simi-
lar to LED, LCD, or other lamps, Printed Light is expected to lose some of its “bright-
ness” over time.
Can it be used outdoors?
Printed Light has been successfully used in outdoor applications.
• As of today, Printed Light panels are not UV coated and will require UV protec-
tion to maintain the quality of the light.
• We highly recommend using a UV coated, and weatherproof structure, to house
Can I bend it?
Printed Light panels are very flexible but should not incur a 90° crease. Proper care
should be considered when wrapping a box-like structure.
Can I print directly onto the panel?
Yes. However, certain equipment is required and we highly recommend using a flatbed
printer and consulting a printing professional.
What is that hum sound?
The sound you are hearing is the vibration of the molecules when electricity is applied.
In nearly all situations, the sound is not discernable with small amounts of ambient
noise. (e.g. A typical retail store)
Is this the same thing I saw a few years ago?
No. A similar product called Electroluminescence was developed several years ago and
may look the same but is not as durable, is limited in size, and should not be cut or the
entire panel will fail.
What are the standard sizes?
Custom sizes up to 48" x 96"
Can I customize the size or shape?
Yes. We can manufacture panels to fit your specific size and most shapes. Another op-
tion is to have a qualified installer modify a panel from the panel’s original manufactured
size and shape as desired.
Custom/New sizes manufactured:
• May incur additional set-up charges depending on the quantity ordered.
• May take an additional 2-3 weeks for set-up, testing and optimizing with the elec-
• Carry the full warranty.
• Must be done by a trained person.
• Is not covered under manufacture’s warranty.
What is the price?
Please see our webstore for standard panel pricing or contact us for quotes on custom shapes and sizes as well as specific quantities. Each panel purchased will include a proprietary electrical driver that is optimized to work with the specific size of the panel ordered.
What else should I know about the drivers?
• The driver technology is proprietary.
• Each driver is designed to power a certain amount of square feet of Printed Light.
• Drivers cost anywhere between $25 (1 sq. ft. panel) to $500 (up to 40 sq. ft. of
panel(s)) and are included with each purchase.
• Some of the larger drivers can power multiple light panels and have multiple
• All drivers are UL and ETL listed.
• Additional drivers are available for purchase separately. Please contact us for any questions or for pricing information.
What is the minimum order quantity per size?
We strongly recommend a minimum of 100 panels per size. This allows us to ensure
consistency in every batch we produce.
How long does it take before an order is shipped?
Standards sized panels may take up to three weeks from the order date to be shipped. Custom/New sizes may take an additional 2-3 weeks for set-up, testing and optimizing with the electrical driver.
What is the warranty?
The lights and drivers are warranted for one year from the date of sale to an end-user
customer. Any post-production modification to a panel will void the manufacture’s war-
Are there any restrictions where and, to whom, I sell Printed Light?
• Printed Light panels are intended for use in the United States and Canada (excluding the Virgin Islands.)
